Blaga annis 1976 - 1981 apud Universitatem Polytechnicam Timisvariensem Arti mechanicae studebat. Deinde ad annum 1990 pro societate mechanicae Hiperion in Ștei oppido operam dedit.

Pro Fronte Salutis Nationalis annis 1990 - 1992 legatus ad Cameram Legatorum Romaniae fuit. Anno 1991 cum aliis Factionem Democraticam (PD) condidit. Ab anno 1996 ad usque hunc diem Blaga senator Romaniae est, anno 2011 - 2012 etaim praeses senatus fuit[1]. A die 29 Decembris 20045 Aprilis 2007 in consilio ministrorum Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu minister rerum internarum fuit. Deinde in consilio ministrorum Aemilii Boc a die 22 Decembris 2008 ad usque 23 Decembris 2009 minister progressus regionalis et domiciliorum atque deinde iterum ad diem 27 Septembris 2010 minister rerum internarum erat. Anno 2007 factio sua PD cum alia ad PD-L factionem consociata est. Huius factionis a die 30 Iunii 2012 praeses est[2]. Die 26 Iulii 2014 legati factionis decreverunt, ut PD-L cum PN-L nomine PNL coniungeretur. Quae decretum die 8 Octobris 2014 a iudicio Bucarestae probatum est[3]. Nova factio unica anno 2017 perfecta erit, ut duces factionis Basilius Blaga (PD-L) et Alina Gorghiu (PN-L) dixerunt[4]. Die 30 Septembris 2016 Blaga ab officio praesidis factionis se recessit, quod factio eius incusata est, ut pecuniam contra legem accepisset[5].
