Galaxiās (-ae, m.) (ex Graeco γαλαξίας 'lacteus', quod attinet ad galaxiam Viam Lacteam) est massivum systema a gravitatione conligatum quod in stellis et reliquiis stellarum, medio interstellari gasii pulverisque cosmici, et parte gravi sed tenuiter comprehensa pro tempore materia obscura appellatum consistit.[1][2] Galaxiae ordinarii inter se variant a nanis, cum solum 10 millionum (107) stellarum,[3] ad gigantes, cum 100 trillionum (1014) stellarum,[4] quorum omnes circa galaxiae medium massae moventer. Galaxiae multa systemata stellarum, fasciculos stellarum, variasque nubes interstellares contineri possunt. Sol est una ex stellis in galaxia Via Lactea, et Systema Solare Tellurem et omnes alias res comprehendit quae circa Solem moventur.
