Metopaulias est monotypicum genus Sesarmidarum omnino terrestrium, quae ad mare ad ova gignenda redire non debent. Metopaulias depressus est cancer rutilo-fuscus circa 2 centimetra latus, qui in stagnis aquae in foliis bromeliacearum Iamaicae convenientis habitat. Femina circa nonaginta ova parit, tum, progenies curans, folia delapsa quae aquam deoxygenare solent removet, testas gastropodorum in stagnum ad requisitum calcium suppeditandum addit, blattaria et diplopoda ut vescantur capit, et larvas Diceratobasis macrogastri interficit, quae eos aliter comederent.[2]
