Salve, Amphitrite!

Grata in Vicipaediam Latinam acciperis!

Ave! Spero te "Vicipaedianam" fieri velle!

Libenter me pete quaestiones ullas. Gratus apud nos!--Ioshus Rocchio 12:41, 15 Iulii 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nota de salutando

If you look at Disputatio Formulae:Salve, you will see two new parameters we added to this template (I think we added them after I greeted you =]). You can now put Nomen usoris in casu vocativo (I have gone back and added the vocative of your name, but I don't know your gender, so I left it blank). If m, it reads gratus acciperis, if f it reads grata, and if left blank it reads gratus aut grata. Nifty, huh? =].--Ioshus (disp) 20:31, 11 Septembris 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thank you for the nice comment on my profil. I hope that I can help the Latin-Wikipedia. And sorry that I write in English. My latin isn't very good - I'm just 14 years old. Could I write in german with you? That is easier for me. Best regards alkab Edit: Vielleicht könntest du mich in einem Chat adden, damit ich hier in der Lateinischen Wikipedia auch mal komplett durchblicke.Alkab

Numeri Romani

Hi. Roland and I are working on something regarding roman numerals. For the meantime, culd you leave out the line MC=1100 from your new year pages? Consider using deanno, instead.--Ioshus (disp) 15:16, 28 Decembris 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trust me, I know =[... It's ok, we are working on a program to do it for us.--Ioshus (disp) 15:33, 28 Decembris 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Sorry, this talk took very long. Let me first say thank you for your work and your patience. Here's what we have come up with. From now on, add the Roman numeral to the second call of the decennium. For instance, the year 211 shall be 21. Soon (within a few hours) the template will be fixed to include the information of deanno, which will become obsolete. You will not need to include a parameter to link to the (numerus) page, as the decennium template will be fixed to include {PAGENAME} (numerus) which will either be the numerus page, or redirect to the long-form name. Ie 210 (numerus) may rdirect to Ducenti et unecim. There is no urgency to go back and readjust the templates that you have just made, but feel free to change the call on any number page you see. This will help us to be consistent throughout. Again, thanks for your patience and labor!--Ioshus (disp) 17:01, 28 Decembris 2006 (UTC)[reply]

de figura paginae primae

Salve Amphitrite. A few of us were discussing the layout and content of our pagina prima, and some expressed desire to rehaul it. This might include color changes, content changes, layout changes, and who knows what else. Could you join the discussion at Disputatio:Pagina prima/Nova? Give us a list of things you want a main page to have, what you dont want a main page to have, and what specifically you might think to do differently with ours. We will then try to come up with a design that meets as many of these requests as possible, based on content from everyone. Thanks, and regards.--Ioshus (disp) 20:37, 3 Iunii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Including categories in formulae

I saw you removed Categoria:Praefecturae Graeciae from the formula Nomi Graeciae. My guess is that you did this because pages categorized in this way are listed in the dump as if they were no_cat. Is that right?

Well, I checked with Rolande (we were discussing the similar formula Praefecturae Franciae) and he says there is a work-round: we can tell him, next time around, to exclude from no_cat any pages that have this formula. So, unless there's some other reason that I don't know, I'd like to put the category back into the formula -- it'll save unnecessary typing as I continue to create pages for the praefecturae! OK? Andrew Dalby 09:16, 9 Augusti 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I mainly removed the category from the formula, because all those pages were listed in the dump. But I will readd the category to the formula, though I personally like it, if I can see all categories of an article while editig it, especially if an article is categorized in more than one category, because then it's easier to check if a a category is missing or if one is superfluous (for example there were some articles of cities in Greece, which were in addition to Categoria:Urbes Graeciae also categorized in Categoria:Oppida Graeciae, because the latter category was included in the formula Urbs Graeciae).
Looking at the time, I should better add the category tonight, because if I do it now, I will miss my bus...--Amphitrite 12:15, 9 Augusti 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think, on reflection, you are right. It is maybe better to be able to see all the categories when editing. And I can paste all this stuff in when I make a new page, so no extra typing really. OK, let's leave things the way they are. Don't revert. And I hope you caught the bus! Andrew Dalby 12:45, 9 Augusti 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was late, but the bus was even later ;-) --Amphitrite 23:22, 9 Augusti 2007 (UTC)[reply]

People categories

Thanks for your note on my talk page, Amphitrite. I hope the exams go well! Yes, when you have time for it, it will be really good to have those categories of people by nationality. It means a lot of sorting out, but very worthwhile.

As you say, "And maybe we should decide first how to name the categories: Categoria:Germani or Categoria:Homines Germaniae." The second type (as we already have in Categoria:Homines Turciae) seems more clumsy, but maybe (I think) it is the best. Words like Turci and Germani have multiple meanings. They are OK for medieval history, where we may be talking about tribes and peoples, but less useful for categorizing modern people, where we want to say where they live, not what tribe they belong to!!

Perhaps others will comment on this. Andrew Dalby 13:54, 14 Novembris 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Using the second type sounds reasonable to me, so I will start creating those categories in the next time (not today, after learning eight hours for my history exam I have just no concentration left to do anything useful...) --Amphitrite 21:09, 17 Novembris 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Frenchmen (and women)

I'm very glad to see you are recategorizing them! Keep in mind that if you come across any writers, like Carolus Baudelarius, you can put them in Scriptores Franciae rather than Homines Franciae. Andrew Dalby 20:57, 13 Decembris 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reminding me, I somehow forgot about those other categories (I guess this indicates, that I should better continue to categorize tomorrow ;-)) --Amphitrite 21:13, 13 Decembris 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But don't let me put you off! There are times when a job is best done in two steps. It may be quicker to put them all in Homines Franciae and then consider further. Up to you. Andrew Dalby 10:23, 14 Decembris 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will try to categorize the remaining articles at once and improve the categories of those which are already in Homines Franciae afterwards. --Amphitrite 18:39, 19 Decembris 2007 (UTC)[reply]
