Disputatio Formulae:Salve

Page contents not supported in other languages.
E Vicipaedia

Debemus textum salvendi convertere quoque in linguas in quibus Ops nexusque pro usoribus novis translati sint...--Ioshus Rocchio 23:39, 7 Martii 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think we will need several pages ;-)
  1. Formula:Salve
    1. for placing {{salve}} on a users talk page
    2. it should have a short content, so that the user can leave it on his talk page ... at least for some time (so it can work as a marker that this user has already been welcomed)
    3. it should have a link to a list of links and hints
    4. it should be multilingual, so it shoud have a selection bar for the several languages; so we need another page ...
  2. Formula:Salve (navigatio)(?)
    1. just for technical reasons
    2. is a selection bar for the several languages with the link text "Salve!", "Welcome!", etc.
  3. Something like Ops nexusque pro usoribus novis (maybe better: Vicipaedia:Ops nexusque pro usoribus novis)
    1. a long list of links, hints etc.
    2. it should be multilingual, so it shoud have a selection bar for the several languages; so we need another page ...
  4. Something like Formula:Ops nexusque pro usoribus novis (navigatio)
    1. just for technical reasons
    2. is a selection bar for the several languages (maybe not with a link text like "Salve!", "Welcome!", etc.)
  5. A page corresponding to en:Wikipedia:Welcoming committee
  6. Maybe the wording of Formula:Salve could be in a way that it can be even placed on the pagina prima? I am not sure, if this is possible, so maybe we need another template (just for the maintainability of the language links)

These are just some ideas to consider, it's not a mature concept. --Roland2 07:08, 8 Martii 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Or what about this?

Content of Formula:Salve/en:

Salve! - Welcome! - Willkommen! ...

Welcome here, the Welcoming Committee offers you this navigation bar as a "welcoming gift" and
we hope you enjoy the Latin WP. Please ask us, if you need assistance.

Just another idea, not mature at all ... --Roland2 07:28, 8 Martii 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nonnulla grammatica emendavi; etiam nonnulli tituli mutandi erunt. Alteram paginam recensere mihi hodie non vacat. usor:Bohmhammel 20.42 (UTC) 8 Idus Mart. 2006

Is it possible, Roland, UV, or some other wikipotente, to do something like {{salve|Nomen Usoris in casu vocativo}} so that their name will come up bolded right after the Salve and before the !?--Ioshus Rocchio 15:06, 21 Augusti 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Salve, Ioshe!

Gratus in Vicipaediam Latinam acciperis!

Ave! Spero te "Vicipaedianum" fieri velle!

I think I have just proven that it is possible … ;-)
That new parameter is optional: If you omit it, it works as in the past (just Salve! etc.)
There is a second parameter (optional as well): it can be m for Gratus etc., f for Grata etc., or omitted for Gratus aut grata etc. --UV 23:47, 22 Augusti 2006 (UTC)[reply]
UV, man, sometimes you really make my day.--Ioshus Rocchio 00:30, 23 Augusti 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's awesome!! Course... I'll probably just omit the gender whenever I do this, because otherwise I'll live in terror of getting it wrong ;) --Iustinus 00:50, 23 Augusti 2006 (UTC)[reply]
When the second parameter is omitted, the gender is now taken from the user's Special:Preferences. When the second parameter is specified, this overrides the user's preferences. --UV 00:27, 29 Ianuarii 2009 (UTC)[reply]
!!! --Iustinus 05:50, 29 Ianuarii 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You are right, that was probably not too wise. I changed it once again: When the user's Special:Preferences are either "male" or "female", then this takes precedence and the second parameter is ignored. Only if the gender in the user's preferences is "unspecified", then the second parameter, if present, takes precedence. --UV 22:48, 29 Ianuarii 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, that was a good "!!!." I was impressed. Your second change is even better. Keep up the good work. --Iustinus 04:09, 30 Ianuarii 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions[fontem recensere]

Since since names are such a problem for newbies, should Vicipaedia:Translatio nominum propriorum be on this formula? If not, it should at least go on the list of helpful links. --Iustinus 20:34, 15 Septembris 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A good idea. Honestly I think we should trim the whole thing/make it less ominous to tirones. I notice a lot of people just dive right in without reading anything on the salve message. Maybe this is because it's bigger/more unsightly than some of its other language counterparts? But tnp is definitely a priority in terms of links.--Ioshus (disp) 01:21, 16 Septembris 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I did translate it pretty directly from an English version, though I don't recall if the formatting was the same. Please feel free to do whatever you want to beautify it. As for shortening it... well, perhaps itw oudl be better to put a select-language link at the bottom, as is done with the invitatio formula? --Iustinus 02:47, 16 Septembris 2006 (UTC)[reply]
