Systema nervosum[1] sive systema nervorum[2][3] est rete neuronorum ex cellulis specialibus compositum, quae inter se informationem de circumiectis organismi et de se ipsa communicant. Systema hanc informationem alicubi usurpans reactiones in aliis partibus corporis efficit. Compositum est ex neuris et aliis cellulis gliis appellatis quae actionem neuronum adiuvant.

Systema nervosum in bina systemata dividitur: systema nervosum centrale et systema nervosum periphericum[1]. Systema nervosum centrale est encephalon (cuius pars maximi momenti est cerebrum) et medulla spinalis. Systema nervosum periphericum est collectio omnium nervorum et neurorum extra encephalo; organa sensoria cum systemate nervoso laborant.

Omnia vertebrata simile systema nervosum habent; apud alia animalia systemata nervosa differunt, quod medullam spinalem non habent.

Inter systematis nervosi morbos sunt ictus, commotio cerebri, encephalitis.
