Crustacea sunt a maximo (paene 52 000 specierum descriptarum[2]) arthropodum grege, qui usitate hypophylum[3] habetur. Varia animalia complectuntur longe lateque nota, sicut astacoidea parastacoideaque, brachyura, caridea, cirripedia, euphausiacea, nephropidae, quorum plurima aquatica sunt et in oceanis maribusque vel in aqua dulci habitant, sed nonnulla terrestria sunt, sicut coenobita, gecarcinidae, et oniscidea.
