Idiolectos est distinctus unius hominis solitus linguae usus, oratione non exclusa. Haec consuetudo privata vocabularium, grammaticam, et pronuntiatum amplectitur. Idiolectos ergo est varietas linguae cuique homini unica, ac a dialecto differt, quia dialectos est communis proprietatum linguisticarum copia cum quodam hominum grege communicata. Notio linguae est abstracta usus linguae et facultatum locutorum auditorumque singulorum descriptio.[1] Secundum hanc opinionem, lingua est "congeries idiolectorum . . . potius quam entitas per se."[2][1][3]
