Tempore Belli Magni Patrii, Žukov fuit socius praetoriorum ductus supremi militaris Sovietici, vicarius primus comissarii popularis defensionis URSS (a die 19 Iulii 1941), vicarius praefecti supremi Iosephi Stalin (a die 26 Augusti 1942). Praeterea fuit praefectus nonnullarum frontium. Die 8 Maii anno 1945 Žukov Berolini ut repraesens Unionis Sovieticae pactum de deditione Germaniae nazisticae subscripsit.
