Bellum Septem Annorum fuit bellum ab anno 1754 ad annum 1763 gestum, cuius principalia proelia annos septem ab 1756 ad 1763 commissa sunt. Quod omnem illius temporis amplectum est magnam potestatem Europaeam praeter Imperium Ottomanicum, quinque continentes attingens, magnasque Europae, Americarum, Africae Occidentalis, Indiae, Philippinarum regiones afficiens. Europam in duas coniunctiones fidit certamen, quarum alia a Britanniarum Regno (cum Prussia, Portugallia, Hanoveria, aliisque parvis civitatibus Germanicis), atque alia a Francia (cum Sacro Imperio Romano, Russia, Hispania, et Suecia) ducta est. Interim in India, Imperium Mogolicum, Francicis adiuvantibus, conatu Britannico ad Bengaliam vincendam frustrari conabatur.

Quamquam levia certamina Anglicorum et Francicorum de coloniis Americanis anno 1754 coeperant, lata luctatio quae plurimas potestates Europaeas contraxit in consilium Austriacum ad Silesiam a dicione Prussica recuperandam nata est. Francia et Austria, inter se reconciliantes ut gratiam Britanniae et Prussiae minuerent, coniunctionem grandem constituerunt, quae plurimas ex aliis potestatibus Europaeis traxit; Britannia vicissim, hanc acerbitatem subitam bene intellegens, se cum Prussia consociavit, eventuum conficiens seriem quae Res Novae Diplomaticae postea appellabatur. Defecerunt autem conatus Francici, cum coniunctio Anglo-Prussica superaret, ortusque Britanniae potestatis praevalentis dominatum Francicum in continente destruxit, aequilibrium potestatis Europaeum magnopere mutans.
