Franklinia alatamaha, imago a Gulielmo Bartram anno 1782 facta.

Franklinia est monotypicum familiae Theacearum genus. Sola huius generis species est arbor florens, Franklinia alatamaha (usitate in America Septentrionali appellata Franklin tree), in valli Altamahae Fluminis in Georgia in Civitatibus Foederatis meridio-orientalibus endemica. Planta ex Beniamino Franklinio appellatur.

Planta fuit exstincta in locis feris post saeculum undevicensimum ineuns, sed superest ut arbor ornamentalis exculta. Descendunt omnes Frankliniae arbores exstantes ex seminibus a Gulielmo Bartram conlectis et in Horto Bartram Philadelphiae propagatis.[2]
