Matris Ruth Jaine maritus tertius fuerit Georgius Perry-Smith,[1] sub cuius tutela Thomas Jaine scholam Kingswood Bathoniae frequentabat necnon popinam Hole in the Wall ("Foramen parietis") satis celebrem. Alumnus est collegii de Balliolo apud Oxonienses ubi historiae recentiori studuit. Archivarius a principio meruit, sed ab anno 1973 popinarius Dertmutae iuxta Joyce Molyneux ganeam The Carved Angel ("Angelus sculptus") gessit, quam illa usque in 2000 direxerit. Ille autem ab 1984, prope Totenais in Devoniae habitans, de re coquinaria scripsit. Ab anno 1989 usque in 1994 annales popinarum The Good Food Guide conduxit.
