Thalassinidea[1] sunt infraordo crustaceorum decapodorum quae in cuniculis in lutulentis oceanorum orbis terrarum solis habitant.

Thalassinoides, cuniculi a crustaceis facti, ex Medio Iurassico prope Makhtesh Qatan in Israel meridiano inventi.

Recentes investigationes moleculares monstraverunt hunc gregem esse ad Brachyura (e.g., cancri) et Anomura (e.g., Paguroidea) artissime cognatum. Documentarium fossilium? thalassinideorum retro ad Iurassicum Superius extendit.[2]

Monophyleticus gregis status est incertus; investigationes recentes subicierunt gregem melius dividi in duos infraordines: Gebiidea et Axiidea.[3]

Zoologi putant esse 556 exstantes thalassinideorum species, in 96 generibus digestas.[4] Maxima diversitas in tropicis videtur, sed aliquae species latitudines super 60° septentrionales attinent. Circa 95% specierum in aqua humili habitant, et tantum tria taxa sub 2000 m (6600 pedum) habitant.[5]
