Appearance
Species (-ei, f.) in biologia est pars prima atque praecipua naturae vivae. Duo animalia quae ad eandem speciem pertinent, cum pullos habeant, hi vicissim pullos parĕre possunt.
Speciei nomen scientificum est binomen: nominibus generis specieique constat, et litteris obliquis scribendum est. Ergo speciei nostrae nomen est Homo sapiens, nomen tyrannnosauri Tyrannosaurus rex, et caetera. Hoc est, species partes sunt generum, quae partes sunt familiarum, et caetera. Exempli gratia, nomen felis domestici est Felis silvestris:

- classis Mammalia
- ordo Carnivora
- familia Felidae
- genus Felis
- species silvestris
