Salus publica,[1] vel salus populi[2] et sanitas publica,[3] est "scientia et ars morbi prohibendi, vitae producendae, et salutis promovendae per nisus ordinatos et electiones scientes societatum, organizationum, publicarum et privatarum, civitatum, et singulorum."[4] Quae minas medicas tractat secundum generales valetudinis hominum enodationes. Homines appositi esse possunt tam pauci quam manipulus, aut tam multi quam omnes nonnullarum continentium incolae, exempli gratia, in evagata pestilentia. Spatia valetudinis "statum plenae salutis corporis, mentis, et societatis, ac non solum absentiam morbi vel debilitatis" amplecti possunt, secundum Ordinem Mundi Sanitarium Consociationis Nationum.[5] Salus publica rationes interdisciplinarias epidemiologiae, biostatisticae, et ministeriorum salutis contribuit. Salus circumiectorum, salus communitatum, salus morum, oeconomica salutis, ratio publica, medicina indemnitatis, salus mentis, et salus et valetudo occupationum sunt cognatae disciplinae magni momenti.
