Phyllanthus emblica (binomen a Linnaeo anno 1753 statutum) est species arborum fructiferarum in Asia australi sponte gignens, in Asia austro-orientali Sericaque meridionali necnon America australi culta propter fructus amaros nihilominus edules et medicinales. Fructus inter eos, qui myrobalani nuncupari solent, una cum Terminalia bellirica et Terminalia chebula comprehenditur; iam apud Clusium anno 1567 myrobalanus emblica appellatur.
