Larix est genus plantarum coniferarum (subdivisionis Gymnospermarum) e familia Pinacearum.
Ab omnibus aliis Pinaceis Larix et Pseudolarix foliis deciduis differunt, Larix autem a Pseudolarice cono post semina eiecta haud sese resolventem.[1]
Species laricum antiquissima, Larix altoborealis, e serie Eocaena Canadae septentrionalis descripta est.[2] Species autem hodiernae circa decem sunt, in zona temperata hemisphaerii borealis crescentes, exempli gratia:
- Larix decidua, species montana Europaea:
- Larix decidua ssp. decidua, in Alpis et Carpathibus crescens;
- Larix decidua ssp. polonica, subspecies hybrida inter L. deciduam ssp. deciduam et L. sibiricam, e Montibus Sanctae Crucis descripta;
- Larix sibirica et Larix gmelinii, species in silvis Siberiae communes;
- Larix laricina, species Americana.[3]
