Blastocystis (Graece βλαστός 'pullus' + κύστις kystis 'capsula, vesica') est structura in primo mammalium progressu effecta. Ex massa cellulari interiori constat, quae embryonem denique efficit. Exterius blastocystis stratum in cellulis trophoblastus una appellatis consistit, quod stratum massam cellularem interiorem et blastocoelem, lacunam fluido impletam, cingit. Trophoblastus vicissim placentam parit.
