Mortuo anno 1946 fratre maiore natu Ananda Mahidol qui avo succederat, Bhumibol Adulyadej regnum suscepit. Ex uxore Sirikit filium Vajiralongkorn filiasque tres genuit. Diadema ei rite impositum est die 5 Maii 1950. Eius corpus maximis dignitatibus crematum est Bancoci noctu dierum 2627 Octobris 2017.
