Potamon est genus aquae dulcis vel semiterrestrium brachyurorum ab Europa Meridiana per Mediam Orientem ad Indiam boreo-occidentalem inventorum.[2] Septendecim species hodie agnoscuntur[1]:

Multa alia taxa brachyorum ex Indosina, olim species Potamonis appellata, nunc in aliis generibus ponuntur, sicut Himalayapotamon, Beccumon, Eosamon, et Takpotamon.[1]
