What has led to putting this text under the lemma for a male of the species? The general classical term for 'sheep' is ovis. The Linnæan term for the genus is Ovis. There's a domesticated species Ovis aries. IacobusAmor 01:21, 3 Februarii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have now moved it, having previously deleted the redirect page that stood at "Ovis aries". That was correct, wasn't it? First time I've done that. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 18:20, 15 Februarii 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Incidentally, I have no preference as between the binomial "Ovis aries" and the common name "Ovis". I adopted this as a good exact heading; there's a redirect from "ovis" of course. What do you think? Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 18:25, 15 Februarii 2007 (UTC)[reply]
