Natali fere quintodecimo, Crockett domum nullo nuntio praemisso reversus est, cuius annos absentis pater tabernam exercebat, in quam filius ad edendum intraverat. Eum nemo nisi soror senior Betsy cognovit, quae "Ecce meus frater diu amissus" clamat "iterum domo!" Totus domus reversum multo iubilio eum excepit (nec minore pater) atque amplexus est. Ipse Crockett obstupuit. A patre tamen obaerato quodam Iohanni Kennedy agricolae auctoratus, huius sororis erga filiam amorem concepit nuptam alio.
