Nuntius/nuntium[fontem recensere]

Simply because of this discretiva, I wish we would just make the distinction nuntius messenger/newsbearer, nuntium message/news...--Ioshus (disp) 04:34, 9 Iunii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If nuntium means news item, then this page isn't logically consistent. It says nuntius is both messenger and news item. Furthermore, the link to Nuntius (News item) points to the page Nuntius which describes News providers; whereas the item Nuntius referring to messenger doesn't link anywhere. All of which is very confusing.--Rafaelgarcia 04:48, 9 Iunii 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have moved Nuntii to Vicipaedia:Nuntii (which might be renamed to Vicipaedia:Nuntia, see above). Then I made a redirect from Nuntii to Nuntius. I think we could also make a redirect from Nuntium and Nuntia to Nuntius (discretiva) ... whatever the reader then might find on Nuntius (discretiva): Either that it's all the same or that what Ioshus proposes. {{PONS-SS}} says:
  • nuntium, -i (nuntius) (poet.) ... means the message
  • nuntius, -i ... means both the person and the message

Right, so if we ourselves adopt the distinction, seeing as how one of them means both, but the other just means one, then we will be able to call people nuntii without people thinking we are talking about the news.--Ioshus (disp) 13:55, 9 Iunii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See my latest note in Vicipaedia:Taberna. The new redirect from Nuntii to Nuntius must have caused the problem that I noticed. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 14:44, 10 Iunii 2007 (UTC)[reply]
