Alfredus Hamilton Barr Jr. (28 Ianuarii 190215 Augusti 1981) fuit historicus artis Americanus primusque rector Musei Artis Modernae Novi Eboraci in urbe siti. Ex quo loco apud progressum sententiae populi erga artem modernam magnopere valuit; exempli gratia, eius praeclara exhibitio van Goghiana anno 1935, verbis Berniciae Kert auctoris, "praecursor fuit suavitatis quam Van Gogh etiam hodie in imaginatione hodierna tenet."[1][2]

Puer in Schola Latina Puerorum Baltimorae Terrae Mariae studuit. Gradus A.B. anno 1923 et A.M. anno 1924 in Universitate Princetoniensi accepit, ubi historiae artis sub Francisco Jewett Mathet Caroloque Rufo Morey studuit. Anno 1924 in ratione doctorali apud Universitatem Harvardianam matriculavit, sed cursibus absolutis, mox discessit ut docere inciperet. Gradum Ph.D. anno 1946 demum acceperit.[3] Professor consociatus feminas historia artis in Collegio Wellesleiani ex anno 1926 docuit. Rector Musei Artis Modernae mense Augusto 1929 creatus est, anno aetatis suae vicensimo septimo. Amotus est anno 1943.
