My proposed Latin translation of the title is a bit loose, I realize -- "mandians d'amie" seems to be something like "mendicans ut amicam habeam" (or, I guess, "mendicans puellam," though that doesn't seem quite classical). A. Mahoney (disputatio) 14:27, 29 Aprilis 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Amicá carens" would be closer grammatically than "sine amica", but no closer in capturing the undertones of "mandians". Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 15:37, 29 Aprilis 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not that strong in Medieval French so I don't know the connotation of the verb; if it's anything like Latin mendicare or English beg, though, then it's fairly strong. I found the full lyric at Choral Wiki if anyone's curious. A. Mahoney (disputatio) 15:46, 29 Aprilis 2015 (UTC)[reply]
