Disputatio:Snorro Sturlaeus
By Worldcat the most common form seems to be Snorro Sturlaeus, but the following also occur:
- Snorro Sturlonides
- Snorro Sturlae Filius
- Snorreus Sturlesonius

- I've been wondering about this one. Perhaps one of our Icelandic users will comment. Snorro Sturlae filius seems the nearest to accuracy in plain Latin, which maybe counts for something. "Snorreus Sturlesonius" seems a bit ridiculous; maybe that counts for something too ... Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 08:58, 4 Aprilis 2008 (UTC)
- My vote would be for Sturlaeus, simply because it seems to appear in enough places to count as "official." But obviously, as it's a true patronymic, Sturlae Filius is near the top. Sturlonides is OK too (cf. Maimonides, Gersonides. Surely you don't need to be a noted rabbi to get a Greek-style patronymic ;) ).
