Saxum sedimentarium, vel saxum authigenicum, est depositum minerale quod ubicumque invenitur vel observatur generatum est. Mineralia sedimentaria authigenica per sedimentationem a praecipitatione vel recrystallizatione? conformantur,[1] contra transportationem ex alibi (ratio allogenica) ab aqua vel vento.[2] Sedimenta authigenica sunt principales sedimentationis maris alti partes. Argillae authigenicae raritatem (Anglice porosity) sedimentorum minuere solent, ergo penetrabilitatem (permeability) minuentes.

In petrologia metamorphica, minerale authigenicum est minerale in situ per metamorphismum conformatum.
