Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen basiert auf einem alten Siegel von Ovelgönne, das eine Burg und die Kleeblätter zeigte. Die gezeigte Burg ist die Burg von Ovelgönne. Sie wurde 1514 von den Grafen von Oldenburg erbaut, die hier für kurze Zeit auch ihren Hauptwohnsitz hatten, und 1677 zerstört. Die Kleeblätter repräsentieren Oldenbrok und symbolisieren zusammen mit der grünen Tingierung den ländlichen Charakter der Gemeinde.
English: The arms are based on an old seal of Ovelgönne, which displayed a castle and the trefoils. The castle is the local castle of Ovelgönne. The castle was built in 1514 by the Counts of Oldenburg, who also had their main residence here for a short period, and was destroyed in 1677. The trefoils are representing Oldenbrok and are also symbolising the rural character of the municipality, together with the green colour.
