The long footnotes make it hard to edit the text, and, what's more they are in English, and what's more, four of them seem intended to prove the one-word claim that Mani was Iranian. Does anyone dispute it? If so we need to know why, and what the alternative view is. Otherwise, I propose to delete those four footnotes. There was a dispute on the English Wikipedia, but I agree, one source should be enough unless there's an actual scholarly debate. Lesgles (disputatio) 19:32, 29 Maii 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for checking! Writing biographies of prophets is hard work wherever you begin, but reading through that discussion page makes me think that, on the subject of Mani, en:wiki maybe wasn't the ideal place. I wonder if the Encyclopaedia Iranica article might form a better foundation.
If our article gets longer, the claim that Mani was Iranian (specifically, that his Mum was Arsacid) can then appear later where it can be suitably qualified with doubt, although, indeed, there appears to be no positive alternative, just the doubt.
