What would be the best way to translate the GNU acroymn into Latin? How can we decline GNU?

We don't decline acronyms on Vicipaedia.But if one had to one could use the u declension, like iglu--Rafaelgarcia 19:01, 15 Iulii 2008 (UTC)

Prehapse: GNU Non Unix, Gnus Non Unicis. That would make GNU a neuter noun.

Word Choice

We need to establish some new words. For license (as in the General Public License) I used licentia, but that seems way off. We need a word for library. I used librarium but that seems to be too literal of a translation. --65.216.75.240 20:44, 23 Iulii 2008 (UTC)

We don't need new words when old words will do! The Romans had licenses & libraries 2000 years ago. To them, a librarium was a 'bookcase, book-chest'; a library was a bibliotheca. To them, licentia meant 'freedom, leave, liberty', especially the abuse thereof: 'dissoluteness, licentiousness'. If you mean license in the sense of a permit, the Romans had at least two good words for that: privilegium, -i, n., and diploma, -atis, n. IacobusAmor 21:48, 23 Iulii 2008 (UTC)

If it helps, Traupman gives for "driver's license" diploma gubernationis(=diploma gubernandi?), which emphasizes the concrete object carried by the driver certifying his privilegium; the "special right of driving" would be privilegium gubernationis(=privilegium gubernandi?). Compare also privilegium impressorium given by Mogan for "copyright" meaning "licence to print", as opposed to "right to copy" =ius auctorum (=ius imprimendi?); And of course bibliotheca is a library!--Rafaelgarcia 22:11, 23 Iulii 2008 (UTC)
