Catholicus, catholicus[fontem recensere]

He wasn't a universal (catholicus) priest: he was a Catholic (Catholicus) priest. Confer verba Anglica:

A person of catholic tastes has broad, general, comprehensive interests.
A person of Catholic tastes has peculiarly Catholic interests.
