Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde 1965 vom Mainzer Innenministerium verliehen. Das Wappen ist abgeleitet von Gerichtsiegeln aus dem 17. und 18. Jahrhundert. Das Mainzer Rad symbolisiert die frühere Zugehörigkeit zu Kurmainz. Die Bedeutung des Kreuzes sowie der Zickzackbalken sind unklar.
English: The arms were granted in 1965 and are derived from seals of the 17th and 18th century. The wheel of Mainz symbolises the former belonging to the Electorate of Mainz. The meaning of the cross pattée and the fesses dancetty is unknown.
