So many languages have thrown in the towel and adopted a form of the term group that one almost wonders if :la: shouldn't, at least in this technical sense, and have grup(p)us, -i. I agree especially given the duCange attestation for the meaning of the gruppus term that it makes sense for gruppus to translate algebraic group. --Rafaelgarcia 12:39, 14 Maii 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What's the state of our knowledge now? As it is, the notes give attestations of the existence of the word "gruppus", but not its modern mathematical sense.
