Maris aequor est limes medianae altitudinis superficiei oceani. Adhibetur autem mensurae altitudinis, quae appellari potest super maris aequor.
De vocabulis
Columella locutionem hoc sensu utitur in libris de re rusticis: "ut in solo piscinae posita libella septem pedibus sublimius esse maris aequor ostendat" et "sin autem locus ubi uiuarium constituere censemus pari libra cum aequore maris est".[1] Alibi autem aequor "mare placidum" saepe significat; ut apud Varronem: "aequor mare appellatum, quod aequatum cum commotum vento non est".[2]
