Plica vocalis[1], seu chorda vocalis vel labium vocale[2], est una ex tunicis mucosis plicatis geminatis quae horizontaliter trans laryngem tensae sunt. Illae vibrant ut fluxionem aëris ex pulmonibus expellentem per phonationem moderarent.[3][4][5]

Plicae a nervo vago gubernatae sunt ut per inhalationem aperirentur, per animam comprimentem clauderentur, et per dicendem aut canendem vibrarentur. Sunt albae propter sanguis paucitatem circulationis.

Aves plicá vocalis sonos vocales non producunt sed vibrationibus mucosarum in syringe.
