PORTRAITS OF FRUIT-EATING BIRDS OF COLOMBIA About ONC quarter natural size These toucans of Colombia were drawn in color by the artist of the expeditions, Mr. Louis Agassi?. Fuertes, directly from the freshly collected specimens. The bird at the upper left corner is described by Dr Chapman as new. Twenty-three species of this family (Ramphasticte) were collected by the Chapman K.xpcditions; 17 species among the 23 are characteristic of tropical Colombia, while 7 species belong in the Subtropical Zone, and one is found in the Temperate Zone. The birds whose portraits are shown live in the Tropical Zone except the upper two which are Sub- tropical.
