Descriptio Emperor Akihito conferred the Order of Culture on Hideki Shirakawa, Professor Emeritus of the University of Tsukuba, at the Imperial Palace in Chiyoda Ward, Tōkyō Metropolis on November 3, 2000. Shirakawa was given the order diploma from Yoshirō Mori, Prime Minister.
