Summarium

Descriptio
English: A colugo (Galeopterus variegatus, adult female), seen in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, Singapore.

Order: DERMOPTERA
Family: Cynocephalidae
Species: Galeopterus (or Cynocephalus) variegatus

Colugos are arboreal gliding mammals found in Southeast Asia. There are just two species each in its own genus, which makes up the entire family Cynocephalidae and order Dermoptera. Though they are the most capable of all mammal gliders, they cannot actually fly. They are also known as cobegos or as flying lemurs (misleadingly, since they are not lemurs and cannot fly).
