Disputatio:Winston Churchill
Do we have a source for this name? I could not for the life of me find a good Latin reference to Mr. Churchill myself, when I looked. --Iustinus 17:12, 18 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)

- Are honorary doctorate diplomas usually in Latin at US universities? If so, you could try and look for his 1941 Rochester one (LL.D.)--77.187.43.51 17:51, 11 Augusti 2008 (UTC)
- A proper name with nominative in -onis (apart from Adonis, I suppose) is barely plausible. I've seen Guinsto suggested elsewhere, but I guess that is equally fanciful. Sometimes history is interesting. For the sake of fun, I checked the history of the article on John Lennon:
- Beginning 9.Oct.2004: Iohannes Winston Lennon →
- 25.Oct.2006: Guinsto →
- 12.Ian.2008: Vinstonis →
- 11.Febr.2009: Winston →

Frustrating: Westeminster Abbey's website provides a translation of a Latin inscription mentioning a Winston Churchill (not THE Winston Churchill, mind you, but one of his ancestors I believe), but unfortunately they don't provide the Latin text, and the image is too small to be of use. --Iustinus (disputatio) 07:07, 21 Octobris 2012 (UTC)
