Poliomyelitis (e verbis Graecis πολιός 'color cineraceus' + μυελός 'medulla' + suffixum -itis 'inflammatio'[1]), aliquando tantum polio, sive paralysis infantilis, est acutus morbus viralis, accurate infectio, ab homine ad hominum transmissa, praecipue per viam faecalem-oralem.[2] Causa est poliovirus. Homines hoc morbo laborantes saepe facultatem ambulandi amittunt.
