Michael van der Gucht (vulgo: Michiel van der Gucht sive Michael Vandergutch[1]; Antverpiae anno 1660 natus; Antverpiae[2] aut Londinii[3] die 16 Octobris anno 1725 mortuus) fuit chalcographus Flandricus.
Biographia
[recensere | fontem recensere]Friderici Bouttats II tiro[2][3][4][5] de 1672 usque ad 1673[2], aut fortasse Philippi Bouttats[6], atque Davidis Loggan discipulus, primum domi, ubi anno 1673 Sancti Lucae Collegii sodalis fuit[6], et de 1682 Amstelodami, ubi apud Rosengracht resedit, laboravit.[2] Die 16 mensis Iunii anno 1682 Mariam de Hogenbergh de Aerschot in matrimonium duxit[2]. Postea Londinium migravit[1][3][4] anno 1688[6], ubi praecipue libros effigiavit[4]. Primum praesertim tabulas anatomicas perfecit[1][4], postea virorum clarorum effigies[1][3][4], monumenta aedificiaque incidit[6]. Anno 1725 in vico urbano Bloomsbury Londiniensi[1][3] domi[1][5] ob podagram obiit[5].
Ex eius operibus enumerandae sunt multae tabulae historiarum Eduardi Clarendon[1][4], Iosiae Child effigies iuxta tabulam Ioannis Riley, Thomae Sprat, episcopi Roffensis, iuxta Petrum Lely, episcopi Francisci Atterbury post Godfridum Kneller, reginae Elizabethae post Antonium Moro[1] atque Regiae Classis Britannicae imago grandis iuxta tabulam Thomae Baston[4][5]. Praeterea cum Gulielmo Cowper ad tabulas perficiendas libri Eduardi Tyson Orang-outang, sive Homo Sylvestris laboravit[7][8]. Denique secundum Everhardi Kickii et Gerardi Moore delineationes ad Ioannis Sloane librum A voyage to the islands of Madera, Barbados, Nieves, S.Christophers and Jamaica illustrandum chalcographias confecit ad numerum quinque et septuaginta; septem autem ab Ioanne Savage perfectae sunt[9].
