Māʿmūnīya iam saeculo XI inter alia fercula multa ab Abū al-Muṭahhar al-Azdī in fabula Ḥikāyat Abū al-Qāsim refertur.[2] Al-Ibšīḥī, auctor saeculi XIV ineunte, mammoniam a nomine caliphae al-Maʾmūn Aaronis filii appellatum esse refert, nullo fonte anteriore citato.[3]

Mammonia iam saeculo XIII in Anglia usitata est: ibi in catalogo poëtico epuli Anglonormannico sub nomine maumené ab auctore Gualtero de Bibbesworth relata est, verbis Viaunde de Cypre e maumené, Vin vermaile e blaunc a plenté.[4] Saeculo XV non oblita rursus in enumeratione epuli (sed oratione soluta) reperitur: creem de .ij. colures, maumenné, costez de venesoun rostez.[5] Saeculo XVI ineunte Wynkyn de Worde catalogum epuli exscribit ultimum nobis cognitum, in quo mameny enumeratus sit, rubrica feestes and seruyce from Eester vnto whytsondaye, his verbis: the seconde course, Iussell with Mameny ... ("Epulae servitiumque inter Pascham et Pentecostam ... Iuscellum et Mammonia [etc.]"[6]
