Ordo : Atheriniformes
Familia : Atherinopsidae
Genus : Leuresthes
D. S. Jordan et C. H. Gilbert, 1880
Leuresthes est genus piscium familiae Atherinopsidarum magnitudinis Clupeidarum, solum in Mundo Novo endemicorum, ante litora Californiae in Civitatibus Foederatis et Californiae Inferioris in Mexico, ubi ea ante litora Oceani Pacifici et Sinus Californiae inveniuntur. Generi sunt duae species, L. tenuis et L. sardinas, ambae vulgo in nonnullis linguis (inter quas Anglica, Francica, Suecica, Theodisca) grunion appellatae.[2] Homines Leuresthibus captis per cursus citatos Leuresthium (Anglice grunion runs) fruuntur.
Colpichthys regis, species cognata, in Sinu Californiae habitat. Quamquam hic piscis Leuresthium similiter videtur et movetur, ei non est eadem procreationis ratio.
