Descriptio
Español: Retrato de Mateo Alemán (1547-1615). Grabado en cobre aparecido en la edición príncipe del Guzmán de Alfarache (Madrid, Várez de Castro, 1599).
Apoya la mano izquierda sobre un libro cerrado, en cuyo corte dice: "Cor. Ta." (Cornelius Tácitus). Con la derecha señala la linda cartela que hay en uno de los ángulos superiores de la estampa con el emblema de la araña sobre el áspid, y la letra: "Ab insidiis non est prudentia". Haciendo juego con esta cartela, está en el otro ángulo el escudo de armas.
