Summarium

Descriptio 8th-century Merovingian script sample. In 2007, the uploader seems to have taken this image from Diane Tillotson's website (site defunct in 2020), who described this image as "Merovingian book script from an 8th century Evangelary (Autun, Bibliothèque du Grand Séminaire, 3)", while citing F. Steffens' Lateinische Paläographie (1929). Another uploading of the same image could be found here (same site).
The text comes from the beginning of an evangelary conserved at Autun. According to Bibliothèque de l'École des Chartes: Revue d'érudition, consacrée spécialement à l'étude du moyen-âge, 29e année, tome 4ème, sixième série (1868, Paris: Librairie A. Franck), page 217 (Google Books), this manuscript (no. 3 in the "1849 catalogue") is valuable as it is a rare pre-11th century work with a stated precise year of composition, 754, which is useful as a paleographic sample of a specific time, even if the monastery of composition is unknown. The manuscript shows hand styles used just before the significant Carolingian reforms of the late 8th century.
