Descriptio
Portrait of Francesco Maurolico (1494 - 1575), Italian mathematician and astronomer from Sicily. Work is a line engraving signed Mno Bovi. Sti (Mariano Bovi) and is described as copy of a portrait by Polidoro di Caravaggio. In 1535 Maurolico collaborated with the painter Polidoro da Caravaggio in designing triumphal arches for the entry into the city of Messina by Holy Roman Emperor Charles V.
