Object history
Deutsch: Neben der Anlage des Zisterzienserklosters Maulbronn entstand erst seit Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts eine bürgerliche Siedlung, die 1886 zur Stadt erhoben wurde. Das Wappen wurde, nachdem es in ähnlicher Form (geschachter Schrägbalken) seit 1926 geführt worden war, 1962 vom Innenministerium verliehen und nach der Eingemeindung von Schmie (1970) und der Vereinigung mit Zaisersweiher (1975) zusammen mit der seit 1926 geführten Flagge am 15. März 1977 vom Landratsamt Enzkreis neu verliehen. Es weist mit dem sogenannten Zisterzienserbalken auf das 1147 gegründete Kloster hin. Maultier und Brunnen sind „redende" Symbole für den Ortsnamen und fanden sich bereits im überladenen Bild der Gemeindesiegel des 19. Jahrhunderts, das wiederum auf dem Siegelbild des Oberamts Maulbronn aus dem 17. oder 18. Jahrhundert basiert.
