Descriptio
English: After his transfer from Mantua to Padua, the learned scholar and writer Marco Mantua Benavides in 1544 had a grandiose mausoleum built by the Florentine sculptor Bartolomeo Ammannati. On the sides of the sarcophagus, there are the two statues of Work and Patience, while in the upper part there is a statue representing the sponsor between Time and Fame. The whole is dominated by Immortality. The monument is made of Nanto yellow stone, while the statues are in white marble.
Français : Après son transfert de Mantoue à Padoue, le savant érudit et écrivain Marco Mantua Benavides en 1544 a fait construire un grandiose mausolée par le sculpteur florentin Bartolomeo Ammannati. Sur les côtés du sarcophage, il y a les deux statues du Travail et de la Patience, tandis que dans la partie supérieure il y a une statue qui représente le commanditaire entre le Temps et la Renommée. L'ensemble est dominé par l'Immortalité. Le monument est fait de pierre jaune de Nanto, tandis que les statues sont en marbre blanc.
Italiano: Dopo il suo trasferimento da Mantova a Padova, il dotto studioso e letterato Marco Mantua Benavides nel 1544 si fece costruire un grandioso mausoleo, opera dello scultore fiorentino Bartolomeo Ammannati. Ai lati del sarcofago vi sono le due statue del Lavoro e della Pazienza, mentre nella parte superiore vi è la statua che ritrae il committente tra il Tempo e la Fama. Il tutto è dominato dalla Immortalità. Il monumento è realizzato in pietra gialla di Nanto, mentre le statue sono in marmo bianco.
