Summarium

Descriptio
English: Residence of the Republican politician James G. Blaine located at 2000 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C.. The home was constructed in 1881 and designed by architect John Fraser. It's the only surviving example of large mansions built during the late 1800s that once ringed Dupont Circle. The other notable owner of the building is George Westinghouse who bought the home in 1901 and resided there until his death in 1914.

In recent years, the Blaine Mansion has been used for commercial purposes. The current owner, a lawyer, John R. Phillips, hired Eichberg Construction to renovate the property which included adding an underground parking deck, adjoining six-story residential building, and Italian restaurant. The renovation costs were an estimated $20 million dollars.

The Blaine Mansion is a contributing property to the Dupont Circle Historic District and Massachusetts Avenue Historic District.
