  • For Karelia we have Carelia if you're talking about the whole area in Finland and Russia, or Carelia (Finnia) for just the Finnish part. The official regions are, obviously, Carelia Meridionalis and Septentrionalis.

Lapp/Sami[fontem recensere]

I think Lappi exists but Lappones is more common. Certainly the place name is Lapponia. I'm a little wary of importing "Sami" into Latin without attestations elsewhere--despite my argument about Ulaan Baatar, I don't generally like updating Latin names soley on the basis of changing fashions in the modern vernacular languages. But I gather that many consider "Lapp" offensive, which could cause problems. Argh. --Iustinus 02:32, 28 Augusti 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think that most romance languages still have Lappi/Lappones etc. but Nuntii Latini have an article here which says Sami and Samorum. I was going by Victionarium a bit, since it has on its list "Lingua Lapponica Septentrionalis". --Harrissimo 08:04, 28 Augusti 2007 (UTC)[reply]
